Driver charged after pedestrian fatally hit by car | News
STATESBORO, GA (WTOC)- A man been charged with murder in connection with a pedestrian who was fatally struck and killed early Friday morning.
Statesboro police responded at 2:54 a.m. Friday to Palmetto Court apartments at US Hwy 301 North in Statesboro on a report that a pedestrian was hit by a car.
Police said the driver, who was later identified as Michael Javon Scott, drove off before responding officers got there. Officers found a woman was lying in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The Bulloch County Sheriff's Office also responded. Bulloch County EMS and the Bulloch County Coroner's Office evaluated her and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified but her name has not yet been released pending notification of the family.
Scott was arrested and is currently being held at the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office awaiting further court action. Police said the death is being investigated as an intentional act.
