Youth Career Camp visits WTOC

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)- About two dozen 8th thru 12th-graders from Youth Career Camp stopped by WTOC on Monday. They toured the studio, the control room and the newsroom. The camp, which is based out of Statesboro, takes students to places such as the Georgia Ports Authority and Fort Stewart where they did PT with soldiers. So where are they headed next?

Arby's Foundation donates van to America's Second Harvest

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC)- The Arby's Foundation has donated a new van retrofitted with a refrigeration system to America's Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia. The donation comes just in time for the start of their summer feeding program through Kids Cafe. The van will help provide meals to more than 5,000 children in Appling, Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham, Tattnall and Wayne counties this summer.

Georgia Southern celebrates army birthday

Georgia Southern University celebrates the army's 238th birthday.

STATESBORO, GA (WTOC)- Georgia Southern University, home to the Eagle Battalion and part of the Reserve Officer Training Corps since 1980, marked the 238th birthday of the U.S. army. 

On Friday, they participated in the traditional cake cutting with a sabre. The cake was a camouflage tank. 

These young people are making a serious commitment to the nation. For one college sophomore cadet, it's a family tradition. Both her mother and father served in the military.
