Brooklet set to host annual Peanut Festival

BROOKLET, GA (WTOC) - The 23rd Annual Brooklet Peanut Festival is set to take place on Aug. 18.

The festival offers a day full of arts, crafts, live entertainment, every type of peanut imaginable and much more.

The theme this year is, “Brooklet’s Path to Progress,” as the community remembers the town’s humble beginnings and looks forward to its future.

The festival's annual parade will step off at 10 a.m. and travel through beautiful downtown Brooklet. If you can’t make it to the parade you can watch it live at 10 a.m. Saturday on WTOC-TV, hosted by Sonny Dixon with co-host and Ellen Perkins.

A 5K Peanut Run/Walk is held each year before the parade begins. Click Here for an application. You may also contact Toby for more 5K information by email or calling 912.823.3668.

A street dance will take place at 7 p.m. at the festival site, and will feature two performers: Randy "Hat Man" Smith and The Magic Rocks Band.

For many years, tractors have become a growing attraction at the festival. To showcase these machines, a Kiddie Pedal Tractor race is being held at Noon with a Slow Tractor Race immediately following. The Pedal Tractor Race will feature age divisions.
